How do I find my Bank Identifier Code (BIC)?

Financial institutions should have their identification codes. You can typically find this information on your bank statements or online. A BIC code will be either 8 or 11 characters long. It always starts with 6 letters, followed by a mix of letters and/or numbers for the next 2 or 5 characters.

Here are some ways that might be helpful in looking for your BIC or SWIFT code:

  1. Check your bank statement, whether it's paper or digital that is issued to you every month. These codes are typically found within your account details section. Scan through the text and keep an eye out for the terms "BIC" or "SWIFT," which are commonly used interchangeably.
  2. You can look up a bank’s BIC code online by searching for the bank’s name, the country it’s located in, and the city (if possible), along with the phrase “BIC code”
  3. You can use a BIC code locator website that enables you to search for a BIC code if you know the bank's name and location, nation, and, if possible, city.

If you still can't find your bank’s BIC code, you can either visit your bank branch or call their hotline to ask for it.
